One Story You've Never Heard About 'Friends'
If you happen to be a fan of Friends, then I bet that there are so many things that you actually don’t know about the show especially when it comes to behind the scenes stories as well as what exactly inspired the producers to come up with things such as the shows set.
Thanks to an interview that HuffPost Entertainment had with one of the actors of Friends, Michael G. Hagerty, we can now know exactly what went down as the actor shared some behind the scene stories.
We start off with reason why Monica’s apartment was so big. Hint; it’s not what the show claimed.
According to Hagerty, there was no way that they could be able to shoot inside a 550 square foot apartment. “Everyone always asks, how could these kids afford these apartments?”he said adding that “practically it's just that you can't shoot something inside a 550 square foot apartment.”
Monica’s apartment set was based on the designers own apartment. Hagerty also revealed that the set for Monica’s apartment inspired by Shaffner’s and Stewart’s apartment in New York.
While speaking to HuffPost in an earlier interview, Shaffner revealed that, “We'd all had similar New York experiences in the late '70s, so we kind of reached into our communal New York lives and withdrew a lot of elements that we felt were appropriate for the story.”
“And we had lived in a sixth-floor walkup, so we knew you got a bigger apartment for less money if you're willing to climb six flights of stairs.”
